Bubbles series - still life or trompe l'oeil?

We had painted a series of water paintings from streams in Lake Tahoe Calif. to fountains in the Bay Area. Linda started sketching bubbles and later incorporated them into the water backgrounds. The bubbles give a sense of the surface illusion, while " specifying" the image. If you look at the bubbles, you see the "fish-eye" reflection of the surrounding water. These were 5x7" oil on canvas.
